Here's one that has had me going for some time.

When a Win98 pc is logging on to a LAN that requires a password, the login window has a tick box that offers to save the password in the password list file (.pwl).
This means that the next time that machine logs onto the LAN it does not require the password to be re-entered.

Problem is I wish to make the default so that the tick box remains unchecked, so that every time it is logging onto the LAN the password HAS to be entered.

I have spent many happy hours in the reg to no avail.
Other than making a batch file that deletes the.pwl file on shut down, I am stumped.

A gold star for a good answer to this one !

Just wondering here if you can reverse the irritation caused by the PARANOIA section of TweakUI.

It goes a bit like this. Paranoid person wants last user name deleted at logon, therefore WINDOWS ask for a username and password on reboot(very annoying to a person not on a network). But isn't that exactly what you want?

Try it; should work OK. Regards
Phil

Hi Phil
Tried Tweaks - the option u suggested only clears the Win logon, not the LAN logon - nice try tho !

Hi ghost123uk,
You don't mention what the problem is with using the batch file at shutdown - I am presuming that it is a problem with automation.

But, if I was to do what you want to do, I would call the appropriate batch file at start up NOT shutdown.

I would add the following statement to the Autoexec.bat file;

Call <name>.bat

were <name> is the name of your batch file.

Just make sure that the batch file is in the root directory with the autoexec.bat file.

My batch file would read;

echo off
del C:\windows\*.pwl
cls

Hopefully it's what you're looking for.

All the best. I am not a number. I am a free man!
