A movie (*.swf) is made up of scenes.
Scenes may hold text, graphics, sound etc. etc and also other movies (*.swf) or movie clips which are in fact symbols with a movie clip behavior. A movie clip is in fact a sort of a self contained movie in a scene of a movie, the *.swf.
If you click on the "+" icon in the Scene panel you can add another scene which, in effect, makes the movie that you've developed up to that point "Scene 1" and the scene you've just added "Scene 2".
You can rename the scenes to whatever you want in this panel too.
Ok! This is exactly what I was refering to, in that other thread, about ambiguous questions asked out of context. Because of your e-mail, I now understand that what you're really looking for is a way to convert an external .swf into a scene of a new movie.
Try the following:
Open up what I will call your main buttons .fla. Use Save As to save it under a new name so that you can keep the original as a backup. Guess you must have only one scene in this buttons movie, but in any case, insert a new one. Now from the top right icon, minimize this .fla. Next open up the first .fla you want to convert as a scene. Let's say it's the All the Bands .fla.
Once it's open click on the Edit Multiple Frames icon under the timeline, and then on the icon next to it Modify Onion Markers select Onion All.
Next under Edit select Select All (the whole timeline should highlight), followed by Copy Frames.
Minimize this .fla and maximize the other buttons fla.
Make sure you're in the new scene you added previously, select it's first frame and under Edit simply select Paste Frames.
Bingo! Your All the Bands movie was just converted as a scene in a new movie.
Repeat this process for every other movie you want to convert... Simply add a new scene, and copy the frames of the next .fla like you did for the first one.
When finished, you'll have to replace all your loadMovie actions with going to particular scenes instead.
If you still want me to look at your other .fla, make it available to me the way I explained in my e-mail.
When I try to Copy All Frames I can't, simply because it won't let me select it. When I use Cut All Frames it only cuts the first frame (ever though all the fames disappear).
Hey oldnewbie, I can't send the *.fla through any of my e-mails (even after zipping them) They all say it's to big. Also I don't host a webpage that offers 149m of space. Is there any oter way to send it?
