I have a client that is running Windows XP Pro and Outlook for her email program. When she receives a hyperlink from somebody and clicks on it, it takes her to Microsoft Messenger setup screen. No matter what the hyperlink is, it always goes to Messenger setup(install) screen. I have tried uninstalling Messenger and it still goes to Messenger setup. Any suggestions?

Go to Windows Explorer and then go to TOOLS - FOLDER OPTIONS - FILE TYPES. Look up the file type URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol (you can press the letter N as a way to quickly get to the file types listed as N/A which this is assuming your on W2K or later)

Check the command line that is running for this file type. The command should similar to this

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome "%1"

(this all depends if DDE is being used as to how exactly the command line will read) joegz
