Hello,

Im selling my cpu, and I need to clear the C drive.... and remove the Windows operating system, whats the easiest method to do this, Im lost!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks

Howdy:

Use the startup floppy and format the hard-drive. That's all you really have to do.

Uninteligent:

Insert bootdisk into "A" drive. Switch on your computer. Wait for it booting until you get the "A" prompt. Now type in this exactly as shown C: Now hit enter.
you should now see the following: C:\>
Now type exactly as shown with a space after the format.
format C:

Now press enter and wait until you get to 99% and when it asks you about label just hit enter again.
Now switch off and go and sell the damn thing!!!

Use your "Startup Disk":
1) "A:>format c: /q" <enter> (it's very quick...)
-OR-
2) "A:>fdisk" and delete the partition...

thanks guys, I'm going to try it right now.........let you know if I have any problems, thanks again.

oh yeah, and go 76ers! lol

Deleting the partition is probably the best way, though it would be useful for the recipient of the machine if you then create a primary partition.

However if you want to leave an active partition but clean

try format c:/u

This is an unconditioanl format and will remove all traces of OS etc.

When you format, do it in A:> prompt, you cannot format C: when you are in C:
