The caller leaves a message, outdial calls the pager company, pager co beeps 3 times and waits for digits to pass. Norstar waits too long, pager hangs up, we send the digits. Where are the adjustments to the wait intervals and the pauses?

when setting up pager notification, use a "pause" for each delay/pause you are looking for..

Will adding a "P" after the pager number shorten the time when the [digits delivered] are released?
95551234P...(no add)..285#

How do you know the N-star is waiting to long- have you listened to the process with a buttset? It may be going to quick. Also- have you told the voice mail it is a pager?

How do you have it programmed currently- what is your dial string with special characters?

I have a digit grabber on the outgoing line, the pager digits display, line is answered, 3 beeps..........hangup...285 from N* VM.
VM set for outdial to pager 9 + 7 digits send VM ext 285.

There is no adjustment for wait interval that I know of. I would try adding the pause, even though it is counter-intuitive, just to see if it makes a difference.

did you include a 2 after the pause and before 285#? the digit 2 acitvates dtmf for the following digits (285#)
95551234(#)PPP(2)285#

I resolved the problem with your help!
9 + pager number + # + pause + 285 + # worked. No need for the (2) dtmf as all digits accepted for outdial. Thanks for the help.

The 2 is actually just a code you enter into the dialstring when you are using a phone that does not have softkeys. With softkeys (7324 or 7310) the 2 has the same role as pressing DIG (digits). The 2 does not actually tell it to send DTMF. It just lets the VM know you are going from special characters back to digits, while you are doing the programming.

Serenitynow109 nailed it right away.

I didn't recall using the DIG softkey in the 3.0 family of voice mail, but I do agree about the function of the digit 2 and the DIG softkey.

You may be right ringjenny. I was just trying to explain the 2's function to richtech. I figured he did not need it, since he previously stated his digit-grabber was showing everything as correct, but the timing was off.
