How do you add up query results

Hello and let me say you guys have been a great help for all my access problems.

What I want to do now is:

I have a query that will return certain fields of one table.

One of the fields is total order.

I would like to have the total of the total order field calculated...

Any Ideas on how I would do this?

Vince, you certainly keep me busy!
You need to run a select query and if you use a wizard, you will be offered a summary option on any of the fields you add in to the query. If you want to do it manually, open a query in design view. add the table with your total order field. Click the toolbar button "sigma" symbol (Totals). You just gained a row that says totals. Flip through your choices under your fields column and choose Sum. Run your query. If you're happy with the results, start adding other fields and keep checking that your results are still good. (But try the wiz first 'cause it's real easy that way....) Gord

Sorry for the so many questions.

I have done what you said, but what I wanted to do is add up all the numbers in the total column for all the records that the query returns.

The query returns sales for a certain date and each record has a total field.

How can I add up all the total fields and display that amount?

If you remove the sales field you will see only the "total total". Optionally, run a second query based on the first and only take its totals field. Take the total of that...! Gord
