My name is Jeffery Beale and I have just started a web
page design company. I have a few set backs that I need help with. The most important is how to exept credit cards. I have a discover merhant account and they said that if I get a terminal I can accept all major cards. Can I use a virtual terminal provided through a web host. I also looked into 3rd party billing. None that I emailed contacted me back. I felt they were product oriented
and not service geared. Do anyone know of a good online billing company or software for web page designers. I am being hosted right now by Cox cable but will I need a web host that has e-commerce capability or is there a free service that offers that that I can link my commerce page to. Since I am starting out and don't have a lot of money for investment I am trying to go with the least amount of monthly overhead so if there are free or low cost providers and services please provide me the link. I thank you.

There's a lot of sites that provide this service. Most of them also secure the transaction also. Hope this helps:

I've done a lot of research in this area in the past two months. The best I've seen (price, flexibility, etc) so far seem to be:

* CardService Int'l (but they had a technical glitch when taking my order - not a good sign)

* Total Merchant Services (seems to be actually run by humans)

Expect $100 - $300 in startup costs (app fees, mostly). Robert Bradley

But I thought you already had a merchant account. The links I posted earlier is if you already have a merchant account. They don't charge any setup fee's or monthly fee's, just a $.02 per transaction. Each one is different. The ones I posted earlier are for you to accept credit cards online. They just provide the database function and deposit function for you. ~Javrix

Thanks for the help. I do have a merchants account with Discover. When I checked with these companies well one of them I was checking without using my merchant account number. I will try them again. Thanks
