Does anyone have a user's guide for AIX SMIT. I am trying to remove software and it is only letting me preview the deinstall. I want to deinstall. Can somebody help me?
If you are in the smit panel for Remove Installed Software, after you choose the software to de-install, the next item down is "PREVIEW only?". This defaults to YES so you can verify what is going to occur and what dependents will need to be de-installed. Review the log that smit gives you for the preview and check the dependent filesets. Once you are sure, then change PREVIEW only to be NO. You'll also need to choose whether or not you want to de-install the dependents and, if so, change that setting to YES. I know how to set it for a telnet session in Exceed. I use Enhanced - 104 Keys. Then in the Keyboard Mapping, set the F1, F2, F3, F4 keys to ACTION KEYS PF1=PF1, PF2=PF2, PF3=PF3, PF4=PF4.
Let me know if you need more details. I found these by sheer trial and error. Remember, amateurs built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic.
Oh yeah, on the Enhanced - 104 Keys mapping...
on the right side of your keyboard where the keypad is, the keys across the top are already mapped for F1, F2, F3, F4, but I preferred to map the true Functions at the top.
NumLock = PF1
/ = PF2
* = PF3
- = PF4
