I have an address field which gets its data from a POSTCODE (ZIP) program:-

"Tattoo Studio","","","",""," ","6 Grand Parade","High Street",

How do I tidy this field up to remove the blank fields (easy Find and Replace) and seperate the filled fields with a CTRL ENTER so that they look neat in a memo field?

Ok, let's back up a step. Why do you want these addresses in a memo field? Wouldn't it be better to store them in a table with separate fields for each address part?

You can use the transfertext command to bring the data into your database and append or update queries to put it into the appropiate table.

No reason for the MEMO field. Am 'RUSTY' wrote the original system 5 years ago and haven't done much since!! Easy to put all into seperate fields. Could I combine 'on the fly' or would I run a query at the end of each record entry?

Sorry-
Just to fill in a bit more - the POSTCODE program 'POKES the data straight into the fields so I cannot import with Transfertext...would need a query to check is field null - if not then add to previous

Hmmm, not sure what you mean by "poke", but I'll just assume the data comes into the database by some black box method.

Could the postcode program "poke" the data into a staging, temp table which you could then run queries against to put the data into the appropiate fields in your real table?

Combining fields later isn't hard. For reports just dump the fields onto the report wherever you want them. For forms, I prefer to see the various address fields separately, but you can always "bunch" the textboxes holding the data together and remove the borders to make them look like 1 big field. It could but it wouldn't help - it is a manifesting program and needs to enter the address at the same time - I think I'll stick with the full method....to complex for the speed I need
