I have a Word document that has many { REF bookmark \h \* MERGEFORMAT } field. I would like to change the *value* of bookmark to something different.

eg. my text is TEXT; the field is { REF mybook \h \* MERGEFORMAT } where mybook is a bookmark that contains the text TEXT. I want to change text to PARAGRAPH throughout the document.

How do I go about this?

TIA

Is there an {ASK} field that sets the value of the bookmark? If this exists, select the whole document (Ctrl-A) then press F9 to update the fields.

If not, use Edit, Goto (Ctrl-G) to go to the bookmark, and enter the text you want to use. You might need to select the text and reset the bookmark to refer to the text you've just typed.

Tried this, but this just replaces the field with plain text. I've also selected the text I've just typed and tried to Add it as a bookmark again with no success.

Don't know what I'm doing wrong.
