How do i Unlock The Bios Password From A Dell Latitude c400?

I Was Given a Dell Latitude C400
by a Friend He Had Locked the
Bios n Forgot the Password.
When i Turn on The Laptop I Get
the dell logo n F2:for setup F:12 Boot Menu
Before i Can Choose One of The Two options or
let the System Start a White Window Opens Wich Says
This Computer system Service Tag:HH3K311-595B
is protected by a password authentication system.

u cannot access with the correct password

Please type in the primary administrator password
and press(ENTER)

You will need to contact DELL in order to get the unlock code...

there is no way around that one, since it is a laptop, on a desktop it would be a whole different story...

i dont know the machine it self, but couldnt you remove the BIOS battery or use a reset jumper?? this will clear the bios and you will need to set it up again but it would get rid of password right??

I should add that this type of thing can be quite annoying because they ask you info about the original owner. Now, I worked at a place that kept TERRIBLE records and they did business as two different companies at 5 different addresses in North America (Mexico, Canada, U.S.).

So, some of the PCs were registered with Dell and I had no idea which address was used and which company name was used. It was like a guessing game on the phone with Dell.

They probably thought I stole the laptops. Which just goes to show you that record keeping is very important in a business environment or else someone else down the line gets to slog through the pig slop of bad records.
