After creating some glorified spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel, I started making a users guide for using the spreadsheets I created, as well as helping those in my office who would be using these spreadsheets, use excel more efficiently. Part of that was taking screen shots, and in some of those, I would like to have a mouse appear in the shot because of how the cursor changes when doing certain things.

However, I've tried using the windows screen shot, screen rip and Hypersnap DX, and none of them take the screen shot with the mouse. I've also tried to copy the images to another program (like Adobe photoshop and Microsoft Paint) so I can draw the mouse in, and those distort the image in different ways.

Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get mouse cursors into the shot??

SnagIt will do that. It's by Techsmith and costs $39.95. It's what I useboth at home and at work. You can download a trial version before you buy it. Visit and click on Learn More under SnagIt.

Snagit is the right one, definitely. They also do something called Camtasia, which allows you to record a section of the screen (with mouse movements) into a little movie file.
