I have a corrupt table , and need to repair it using isamchk -r . The table is in /usr , my mysql install is in /usr , but when repairing it's filling up my tiny /var filesystem. I put a symlink in for /var/tmp to /usr/tmp , but it had some delete and permission issues.....

I also added tmpdir=/usr/tmp to the my.cnf file, but it didn't make any difference.

guide me, o' wise ones :)

where did you add the tmpdir into the my.cnf file?
i think it must be in the [client] section

Maybe that was my mistake.

I worked around it with a symlink, but I want to avoid the problem in the future.

I'll give that a shot.
