Can someone at least explain this? When I enter nbtstat -c from a client pc I see the following:

NetBIOS Remote Cache Name Table

Name Type Host Address Life [sec]
------------------------------------------------------- server1 <03> UNIQUE 1.192.50.1 -1
server1 <00> UNIQUE 1.192.50.1 -1
server1 <20> UNIQUE 1.192.50.1 -1
server2 <20> UNIQUE 1.192.50.2 567

Both servers are AIX boxes running same samba version, same config file on same physical segment of the network. I want both to act the same but as you can see server2's name has a limited lifetime in the clients name cache.

Check your samba log files to see which AIX box wins the elections.

Hope This Help, PH.

If you up the 'os level' in server2's smb.conf you should be guaranteed to win the election.
