Hi there,

I want to set a password for every individual phone in our company, we have all M7310 phones, I have the password for the system programming console but i did not find any option that could allow me to set a password for every individual phone or if not for the phone then atleast a password that i could put on the line pool for every individual phone so that if the person who is authorized to use that phone wants to call up an external number then he has to put the password assigned to the line pool he has access to.

The problem we are facing now is that the telephone bill has gone skywards and if we charge the bill to the employee for the calls made from his/her extension then the employee says that someone else used my phone, so what we want is to put some password so that only the authorized personnel has that password and can make calls, this is on an individual level and not common to all extensions.

Please help...
thanx in advance.

You can have the telco provide LD codes for you on your phone service which would allow you to view which code made which call (very nice), or you can put a restriction on your 9+1 dialing and create your own COS override codes. This will block the dialing, but you won't be able to track who dialed what, so those with codes can still make the calls.

The COS passwords is the easiest, but MagnaRGP is right, you won't know who is making the calls unless every COS p/w's are kept secret.

I would recommend to the customer that they get a SMDR-6 then dump the report data into a text file or just print it out. do this without the fanfare of account codes etc and this will give the managers an idea of who or at least what phones are making the calls.

if you are set on passwording then create a bunch of COS passwords and assign one password to each employee with their understanding that if calls are made on their password then they are responsible for them. set all phone sets to a restriction that would deny all calls except for 911. (you would probably find it easiest to put a feature key on each phone to restriction override Feat 68) then person would go to the phone they want to call out from dial feature 68 (or press an autodial button for feat 68) then enter their password.

I think that with the customer offered the options of passwords or smdr they will choose smdr. if the problem becomes just a couple of phnes such as break room/confrence room etc. then restrict those phones and use COS Passwords.

you may try cta 100 + 3rd party call control software - and forced verified account codes

drawback: when the PC is down/rebooted there will be no verification of calls
