Due to some wrangling with the local ISP, I have started watching my ports. How can I determine what services are accessing the Internet? It seems that anyone can write a script, wrap it up, and use 'services.exe' to connect through to the Internet. Suddenly I am concerned.

Thanks for the response Matt. I do run ZoneAlarm. However, I cannot block 'services.exe' or I'm screwed. So my original question stands. When 'ar3ze.exe' attempts to connect to the Internet (just an example) - how can I tell whether it is part of a vital program (3rd party email, DSL momma, etc.) so that I don't loose functionality by blocking it.

If you are unsure block it and do not check the box to always remember for this app. If anything stops working reboot and when you attempt to use it again, you will be prompted again and let it access. Other than that, I don't know of a way to see what services are accessing the Internet....

This is so shade tree Microsoft. Replace the part and see if it works. Bill 'em anyway. Anybody else have a suggestion. (And actually that is what I have been burning my time on. And usually I am not exactly sure what has happened.)
