How do I "re-associate" Adobe Acrobat?

Something must have acidently gotten changed in my system. When I now click on an Adobe Acrobat file, my system doesn't seem to know what program to use to open it. It attempts to use Quick-Time Picture Viewer to open it, instead (and fails).

I have to first launch Acrobat and then open the Acrobat file.

How do I re-set things -- so that it knows to use Acrobat (instead of Picture Viewer) to open an Acrobat file?

Go to Folder Options/File Types, highlight 'Adobe Acrobat Document', click Remove, click OK, open a .pdf(Acrobat) file, when the 'Open With' utility appears click on 'acrord32', check the box for 'Always use this program to open this file', and click OK.

Well, you have at least 3 options (listed from easiest to most time consuming)

1) Hold down the shift key while you right-click the PDF file. You should notice on your list of options "Open with.... Select it and in the window that appears, look for the Acrobat program (AcroRd32). Highlight it, check the option to "Always use this program", and hit OK.

Note: If AcroRd32 is not in your list, you will have to use the browse button instead and locate it in the Adobe Acrobat Reader folder.

2) Download and reinstall Adobe Reader.

3) You can manually do it by opening Windows Explorer, go to Tools -> Options (might be called "Folder Options&quot and click on the File Types tab. Scroll down and locate the extension PDF opened by Picture Viewer and delete it. Close out of the window and go back to your PDF file. It should now have a generic symbol as if it's not associated anymore. Double-click it and you will get the "Open With" window. You want to select both AcroRd32 and "Always use this program".

Forgot to add that Quicktime's Picture Viewer might change the association on you again in the future. You might want to open up the program and look for the setting that controls its preferences. There should be an option to disable the association of Acrobat or PDF files.
