The reason I ask is because I hear it may cure this annoying static problem I have with my earphones. Every time I connect it into my laptop I hear this continuous hiss which I have no idea what its cause it. Any ideas?

Thank you.

Static is a problem when there is a sudden discharge of potential between two objects at different levels. That is not your problem.
Static heard on a headset is different from static that shocks although the latter temporarily creates the first.
Do you have another headset to try?
Dirty contacts can cause it, along with a noisy volume control if you are plugging directly to the CD.

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

For some laptops the shielding for both speakers and their AUX connections is very poorly shielded. If the notebook is still under warranty, use it.

Hello thanks for the suggestions, I have finally solved it!!! It's the fault of my radio, this happened when there was a power outage in my area so everything except my laptop went off, all of a sudden the static disappeared!!!
