My telephone system has a 2 second delay when you pick it up to dial a number. Meaning if I wanted to dial a number, I'd pick up the headset, wait 2 seconds and then dial the number.

Unforunatly my modem dials the number the moment it picks up the phone, and therefor dials an incomplete number since the first 3 or 4 numbers are missed. I don't want it to do that. I use to have no problem with this in Windows ME.. but in Windows XP I can't seem to find any options for this stiuation. Is there a command string I could write in my modem or does anyone know where those options are in Windows XP?

Thanks

Hope this helps!

Don't know if this will work but try 2 or 3 commas [,] before the number, should give you more than a 2 second delay. Should work the same as when working through a PBX/switchboard and having to dial 9 and then a pause and then the number, the comma/s is the pause.

commas at 1/2 second per. Ed Fair

In Win98 there is an option called "Wait for dial tone before dialing". I don't know anything about XP, but if you can check your modem properties you may have the same option. Make sure it is checked. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [morning]

Or you can use the modem's wait for dial tone command as part of the phone number. w4045551212. Unless of course, you don't have a Hayes command set, or Uncle Bill took away the option in XP. Ed Fair
