When I print from PageMaker to my printer I know how to tell it that I want to print the crop marks.

But how do I tell it that I want crop marks when I generate a PDF file from PageMaker.

The PDF file always seems to be just the area inside the trim. Is there a way to make it show a larger area with the marks showing?

Hi,

Let's say that your document is an A4. When you go to print (cause we want to go with the two step, first eps then pdf) you choose your ppd (f.e. Acrobat Distiller). Then you go to the tab 'Paper'. You can choose now the option 'Custom'. Add 2cm to the size of the A4 (Width 23 cm, Height 31,7 cm) There is a radio button with cropmarks, make sure it is selected, and also select the 'center page to center of printer area'. In the preview box you will see now the crop marks added. Then continue to print the file to postcript. And afterwards Distill the postcript-file with Acrobat Distiller.

Voilà, that's it
Hope this helps

Hi, Nohjekim,

Dare I say it again - InDesign does this as one of its Export to PDF options.

I have the 1.5 version of InDesign and I used it for a short time.

At the time the printers that I worked with didn't take PDF files as final art and didn't want to take InDesign native files either.

As a result I upgraded to PageMaker 7 and went back to using it.

I still open my PageMaker files in InDesign to use the preflight and font collection utilities. These are things that they should add to PageMaker if they are going to keep updating and selling it.

Now that I have found at least one printer in my area that will take PDF files I may upgrade to InDesign 2 and go back to using it.

But I don’t usually have control over who prints the jobs I do. Most of my work is done for a restaurant consulting firm that does work all over the U.S. and most of the menus that I do are printed by printers’ local to the restaurants involved.

PageMaker has always been the program that was universally supported.
