I do this quite often with my drafting, especially with drafting fonts.
STROKE the font you think it too thin.
It also might help to kern the spacing between the letters.
Perhaps stretching the letter/word width and height.
Using all three of these suggestions should get your font looking the way you want.
for example, give the font a 3pt stroke, increase the spacing between the letters, then shrink the width of the word.
or give the font a 5pt stroke, shrink the spacing between the letters, and stretch the word out longer.
