We used to host our own website here in the NY office. We then put up a new website to replace it in our U.K. office. The old website came up under and the new website is I called and had webforwarding turned on so that and would automatically forward to From the outside world, it works fine, but from my office here in NY i still get the old website. I was told it was a DNS problem. Something to the effect of me having to put the outside IP address of the new website in DNS instead of the old internal IP address of the old website. I don't know how to do that. Can I please have detailed instructions from someone?

I use Windows 2000 server. Can you tell me how/where I change the A record? Unfortunately this is all new to me, and there's nobody else here to do it.

Load the DNS console from admin tool, goto the zone you want to edit. The zone you want to load is the domain you wish to edit. Delete any records you want rid of and add new ones in.

Okay, so I can't edit the ones that are there? I have to actually delete and re-add? Also, can this be done while users are on? Will I have to reboot?

No once you click the right zone, look on the right side you will see a list of A records CNAME and other records there. This is where you can create new ones or edit or delete records.

I am in the DNS console, and all I have is Forward Lookup Zones and Reverse Lookup Zones. When I drill down on the left side and highlight my domain, I don't see the or the anywhere. Am I in the right spot?

WOW, it took you a while to open the DNS console!

What zones are listed under forward lookup zones?

Hehe. I had had a consultant fix it the first time. Now it's not working again.
One is my FTP site, and one is my Domain.
