I really want to shy away from abrupt stops in the music, but i can't for the life of me figure out how to fade out. I know that i have to be close, its gotta be something w/an audio transition or an audio effect or osmething like that. ANy help would be much appreciated, thanks much.

Not sure what version you are using, but in 6.5 the audio tracks have rubber bands on the lefthand side of the timeline. You may have to expand the audio tracks to see the bands (blue and red). One of the bands is for adjusting left/right channels, the other is for volume.

Click a point on the rubber band and drag up/down to get the desired affect you're looking for.
