I am in need of a little layout/procedure help..!
I am using CR9
I have been able to call in by parameters the "main" assy # and the "Qty" I wish to report on. This is going to be a "what-If" type report...("What-If" I need to make 5 assy's, do I have enough materials or parts.?)
The report (now) lists all the "sub" assy's and components correctly...but next comes...How do go to the next level of breakdown to get to the next level of materials or basic raw materials used by each of the sub's.?
manually I can get a subreport on each of the components, but I can't get it to be dynamic or link to the individual sub-components.
Do I need to somehow pass off each component to a subreport that will be inserted after each component or would each component be a subreport.? Or ????
I am totally unsure how to proceed !!

Thanks
G

If this is a flexible multi-level hierarchy, use the Hierarchical Grouping Options... under the report menu.

If this is a simple always-3 levels situation, you could open the same table (assuming all information is in your Product table) 3 times, give the other 2 instances an alias and join...

Thanks..but
I am having no luck in Hierarchical Grouping Options the sub #'s will not break out with detail. Not sure on how to accomplish the "alias and join..."
Maybe for more clarification, Here is a different explanation on what I need. (need to pull in 4 sub PN#'s)

Chosen Main assy PN# from parameter: #9400
First sub PN: #2003 (has 3 sub PN#'s)
Component PN: #0812 + detail + Qty (has sub Mat'l #)
Material PN: #0662 + detail + Qty
Component PN: #0912 + detail + Qty (has sub Mat'l #)
Material PN: #0482 + detail + Qty
Component PN: #0602 + detail + Qty (has sub Mat'l #)
Material PN: #0622 + detail + Qty
Second sub PN: #2002 (has 2 sub PN#'s)
Component PN: #0312 + detail + Qty (has sub Mat'l #)
Material PN: #0652 + detail + Qty
Component PN: #0712 + detail + Qty (has sub Mat'l #)
Material PN: #0412 + detail + Qty
Third sub PN: #1002 (has 1 sub PN#'s)
Material PN: #0652 + detail + Qty

Etc. Etc. Etc

Thankfully all these PN#'s and associated subs are in the same table. Each Parent PN# field {JMTHM.JSPART}has an associated part Mat'l. {JMTHM.JSMPRT} field. The master part table with the assy pn's is linked outer left = to the JMTHM table by PN. I can get the first level to work great...just not any further !

Thanks again
G
