Hello:

To solve the problem . . . "Cannot find 'VIDS:IV50' decompressor" - I have downloaded (and unzipped to its own folder) the W32CODEC-0.50.ZIP file.

This file contains 44 files (including "ir50_32.dll") - but, there is no README.TXT or SETUP.EXE files.

QUESTIONS 1 - 4:
How do install these 44 files? Do I just MOVE them all to C:\Windows\System ? Must I register each file using the "Regsvr32" file ? Will they all show up in the "SYSTEM.INI" file automatically or must I type them in manually ?

FILE EXTENSIONS (in this package):
.DLL
.AX
.ACM
.DRV
.VWP

QUESTIONS 5 - 6:
Would it be alright to install ALL of these files, even though I don't need EVERY file ? Would it hurt to have the UNNEEDED files installed on my system ?

THANK YOU for any info or help.

Hello DENTARTHURDENT ( Will ):

That was "very simple" and answered all my questions.

Among all the other updates it provided . . . it also updated the file "ir50_32.dll" from 5.06 to 5.11 on my own computer.

I will use this "iv5setup.exe" file to fix a problem on another computer which is missing the IV50 DECOMPRESSOR.

Thank you very much. (LOVE Tek-Tips forums)

Richard
