Hi,
I have a very old spec computer which I have just clean installed Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition on to. The problem is that it doesn't seem to recognise my "Creative Labs SoundBlaster 16" audio soundcard and so refuses to play audio. The following website says that MS have "removed support for older audio devices which are not expected to be in newer server systems". The website also gives a list of removed old audio drivers - the one I believe I require is listed: "ctlsb16.sys - Creative SoundBlaster ISA"
I've managed to find & download this file/driver "ctlsb16.sys" from the web but have no idea how to load it up. I've put it on a floppy and followed the
"Add/Remove Hardware Wizard" but it doesn't work - it's as though the wizard is not looking for that "ctlsb16.sys" file/driver. Ultimately, the wizard hits the WindowsUpdate site to look for the driver but fails. I've tried inserting a Win98 CD for the wizard to search on, but still no luck.
Maybe "ctlsb16.sys" is the wrong driver?
Any ideas ???
Thank you,
Steve.
