how do i get rid of fields during capture?

hi,

i had some video (VHS) footage which i got onto a DV tape using a Sony DV-deck. I put the tape into my sony dvcam camera to capture into premiere. But now, i have two fields per each second on the timeline.I understand why, but how can i import that fottage again WITHOUT the fields, in other words forcing each field to go share the same frame?

Do you mean you just have an interlaced video source? The kind where you just see horizontal lines in the video, more pronounced in higher motion. If such is a case, I think there's a deinterlacing filter you can turn on during export from premiere in the advanced export options. I don't think there's any way to change the fields on the DV taps during import. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, an interlaced video source. Not sure about the second sentence in your reply. Basically the source is 25 fps/50 frmsPerSec PAL footage, stored on a DVtape.When importing it into premiere I was just hoping there would be an option (that i have overlooked?) that allows premiere to put upper and lower fields into the same frame, rather than seperateing them. I can understand why it is seperatteing them, it would be useful i guess in other cases. But i want to work with the footage without the fields, more like multimedia cdrom type computer footage. I would rather work like this instead of using some export option that does just this but obviously at the export point in time.

Try looking at "Editing Video > Editing clips > Processing interlaced video fields" in the Premiere html help files (press F1).

Most of it deals with "right click a clip > video options > field operations" I'm not sure of your situation, exactly (and have never worked in PAL), but if Premiere can do anything for you, it'd likely be in there. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
