I have installed a new video card in an Ultra 10, running Solaris 8. How do I get the Ultra to see/use the new card instead of the onboard video?? (The onboard video had poor quality/was flakey, which is why we got another one). Thanks!

Did you try probing for it?

How do I probe for a new monitor? (Sorry, stupid question). I've worked w/ Unix for years - but never had to install HW on SUNs before.
And once I probe for it - will the OS just see it? Is there anything else I need to do? Someone told me I'll have to modify the 'Servers' file in the openwin tree.

go to your ok> prompt and probe for it by issuing "probe-scsi-all"

boot -r from ok prompt or reboot -- -r to check for new devices. run either one of these once you have confirmed probe can see device.

-r parameter checks for new devices and configures the /dev and /devices dir's.

You may also need to patch your box and or install packages, but you should get info booklet detailing this with card
