Does anybody know how to find what version of Access a database is written in (95, 97 etc)? I need to upgrade some 95 databases to 97 at run time using visual basic, so I need to know whether it is already in the right version or not.
The only way I have found so far is to open the database as a text file and look for 'Access95', but that's a real bodge!
Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted!

Doesn't it ask you when you open the database within access 97 if you want to open it read only or convert it??

That is my first thought... I know that works from 97 to 2k (i've done that to a db or two)...

Sorry, That's all i can help with...

I'm looking to convert the database on the fly programmatically, and only if necessary. The first time each user runs the software it should upgrade all of their Access 95 databases.
