I cut and paste a flowchart into Word, but the words typed into each shape, while showing on the Word screen, don't print out. Thanks for your help!!!

Did you add the flow chart into Word as a paste-special Visio picture?

Thank you very much for your response. No, I am very inexperienced with Visio. I cut and paste the chart into Word normally. Everything looks good, and the shapes print out, but the words do not print out. I am unfamiliar with your suggestion, and could not get any help through "Help." What do I need to do? Also, how do I delete the current graphic from Word?

To delete the current graphic from Word just click on it and hit delete.

Ok - now to add it back in again. Before you select it in Visio group the whole diagram (I have found that this can help - it can be a little tempramental). Then just copy it how you normally would (select and CTRL + C)

Then in Word go to the Edit menu and select Paste Special. Word will recognise that you have a Visio picture in your clip board and it will give you a Visio picture as an option to paste in as. Select the Visio picture and press OK.

Hopefully it will now be inserted with all the text? If not you can delete it again ans insert it another way (go to Insert Menu (object, create from File) and then browse for the Visio file).

The only thing about inserting it as a Visio picture is that it is quite a large file size. Once you have it inserted though you can convert it to a WMF or Wor dpicture with much more success.

Hope this helps.

Once again, thank you for hanging in with me. I tried regular cut and paste and importing as object, both with same result--could not print out words. Then I emailed the file to my computer person, and he could cut/paste and print out. So he came to my office and downloaded an older printer driver (PCL5e) for my HP 2100 (PCL6) and all words printed. So now you, my computer guy, and I all know it's an HP PCL6 glitch (after hours of effort and cost in $, time, and productivity). How do I let HP know? Is this worthy of a FAQ? Visio is totally exonerated. :)
May you have the BEST of weeks for taking the time to teach me. I'm saving your notes.

Certainly you can let HP know - I am sure they have a support page on thei website but not sure you'd get very far. It may be a very specific glitch but you never know could be a common problem with an easy patch.

I am glad Visio has been cleared : )
