Hi all,

I am a firewall configuration beginner-novice. Can anyone direct me as to the statements I would need in a firewall to nat an IP. I mean for example, can I make up an address/s to lease to my incoming VPN clients (like 10.1.1.10) on the VPN server as long as they are mapped correctly in NAT in the firewall? Is this the only step needed to create a valid IP for internal use on a VPN server as far as the firewall configuration goes? If so what are the commands or any links out there I can learn to do this? I am not even sure if this is the right way to ask the question but any help is truely appreciated, thanks in advabce!

Without knowning the type of firewall you have - Cisco, Sonicwall, and so on - I won't be able to give you a step by step, but I can tell you this.

Using the 10.x.x.x IP range will work fine. You probably will need to use NAT/PAT unless you have a dedicated firewall/router interface for this VPN, but this is unlikely. Also, you might need DHCP to assign IPs to the remote clients.
