I imported a 60 minute hour home VHS to .mov (1.8 GB) and a 64 minute analogue narration to .mov (.4 GB) to Premiere 6.5 LE, added 10 jpg images (50 secs total), edited the audio to match the video, and rendered the work area. The resulting file is 26 GB. How do I compress it to fit on a 4.7 GB DVD-R for sending to family to watch on home DVD player? Can Premiere 6.5 LE do this, or do I need another program?

Pete

Pete,

Does your version of Premiere allow you to export MPEG for DVD (from the timeline, try Export >> Movie and check out the various options)? If so, then that's a big part of your battle. DVD requires an MPEG file.

What operating system are you running?

Oh, and what are your project settings?

He has premiere 6.5 LE, meaning a vERY light version, without all the bells and whistles.

Download the shareware program , the mpeg2 is good for 30 day trial, then you'll have to purchase the license for it, but it'll take any avi file and turn it into an mpg file ready to be used in any DVD authoring program (Ulead, Pinnacle, DvdIt, SpruceUp, etc)

And yes you need a dvd authoring program in order to make a dvd. A really good one (and pretty darn cheap) is Ulead's DVD Moviefactory or Pinnacles DVD Express (both will also burn the resulting dvd for you)

Thanks. I have a Sony w/XP and built in analog card (gigapocket), 2.4 gh, 250 mb ram, 120 gb rom. I'll download the avi translator and look for Pinnacle or Ulead products.
