Hi,

All up and running w2k3 in Windows 2000 Mixed Mode, but how do I add a second domain in AD? Looked everywhere but no option to do so.

Do I have to have a 2nd physical domain controller? And when I set one up, how do I add the 2nd domain? I thought Domains and Trusts would have an "add domain" under the "new" menu - but maybe it just shows up with a 2nd domains controller?

I am trying to add a second domain as the first is to be an empty root.

Also, if one already has a production domain with thousands of users, I guess the only way to inplace migrate to an empty root would be to abandon the top level root, empty it, and create a new domain, but losing the original domain name?

So basically do Empty root at the beginning or not at all...right?

Thanks!

I haven't slept in 4 days - I knew the answer. I looked for a way to retract but none seemed available.

But, if anyone else was wondering - each domain must have it's own DC, at least one, preferably 2 for multimaster functions and disaster recovery. A new domain is added via the dcpromo process. Good luck!
