How do i add a new menu to a window?

I need to add a new menu to a window. Please help as I am a complete newbie (obviously).
I have created the menu but cannot see it when I build the project. how do I link the menu to the window so it is visable when I build/run it?

When you create the window with CreateWindow or CreateWindowEx, supply the HMENU of the menu as the hMenu parameter.

You can get the HMENU as the return value of LoadMenu API.
