Hello.

I'm now configuring Cat2950. I want to configure a port as no span tree, since the port is connecting to the router.
There are some commands about disabling spanning tree; portfast, bpdufilter, bpduguard,..etc.
How different these commands, and which is the best command for connecting the router?

Hi

I am not sure why you need to turn spanning tree off here, as the switch and router will both be up constantly.

Portfast gives the port the ability to pass packets while learning the topology, which you might need to do to allow devices to access network resources soon after they are powered on. This is typically necessary needed where PCs need to access Netware servers, and time out if spanning tree is set in normal mode.

I am not familiar with bpdufilter and bpduguard, have a look at the entries under spanning-tree on

for Cisco's explanation.
