I guess I have two problems. I have been using 11.5 SP3 and using Disk staging to an Adaptec SNAP device which then migrates to an HP autoloader DAT72 device. It has been working great for several months.

Problem 1)Once last week and this week for reasons I cannot determine, the database engine has stopped and therefore the migration job to tape failed. The diskstaging part of the job was successful. I do not know what caused the engine to stop. I will check my database for corruption to see if there is any, but would like to know if anyone has suggestions.

Problem 2) Does anyone know how to use Tapecopy to manually copy disk staging sessions to tape. I tried what I thought was a correct query command, but I just received errors that there were no records associated with my query.

Thanks for any help.

Well, I may have figured out how to do a tapecopy. However, it did not work exactly as planned. Here is command that I used:

tapecopy -qOnOrAfter (09/18/2007) -qOnOrBefore (09/19/2007) -d GROUP2 -m USDAFLO_DLY -g

When I did a preview, the results are:
09/21 09:52:56 Tsi connection established as [TAPECOPY-610]
09/21 09:52:56 Database maintenance. moved [0] tapes to scratch.
09/21 09:52:56 Using local scratch set.
09/21 09:52:57 Usable Scratch- Tape Name [I-USDAFLO-TUE- 8/07/07], Rid [2812], Seq [1], S/N [1000024]
09/21 09:52:57 Usable Scratch- Tape Name [I-USDAFLO-WED- 8/08/07], Rid [7327], Seq [1], S/N [1000006]
09/21 09:52:58 Querying database and searching for groups...
09/21 09:52:58 Your query produced 35 sessions for consolidation.

So I assumed it would overwrite one of those scratch tapes which are loaded in the autoloader when I actually ran the command. What it did was it overwrote another tape which was loaded that was a member of the SAVE set, not SCRATCH set.

So I will have to try again and recopy the other files, but I will be careful to have only the tape I want to use loaded.

If anyone has advice, let me know.
