Hello,
I am new to Apache.
I am running Apache on a Windows desktop.
I have installed Apache 2.045 Win86.
What is visble now is a symbol with a purple
(? accurate color forgive me if there is a better description) symbol.
When I open the "Apache Service Monitor" the "Service Area" is blank.
Is this good ? How do I add services to Apache.
During the setup procedure I entered the name of a service etc.
thanks

type http://[servername] and you should get the default page

Wullie,
you are a genius.
Don't know what I did but it now has the green flag and the Apache monitor shows - Apache2 running.
I had qn ordeal. Didn't quite know how to go into command prompt with Win 98- somehow it was not on my start list. I downloaded a program from downloads.com that was their pop pick called "command prompt". Bad news it took over my browser and installed some porn program called "link maker" from trafficzap. Would not uninstall and if you turned off view it caused a system failure via the browser. I think that it even turned off the antivirus program. Would not uninstall and even tried to uninstall other prorgams > I thought spybot or even the av program would... Int he end reinstalled and somehow uninstaleld both. Fun and games. My 14 year odl son told me how to get the prompt.
I want to set up Apache to host a wevsite on the computer. Whats next ?? What do I do next ?
thanks again
