I'm sharing a TS account with three more users and we have the problem that when someone logs in and there is already someone using the account, it gets logged off.

How can I stop co-users from logging off whoever has the account in use?

I'm running terminal services on a win2k3 r2 machine.

Thanks in advance,

Aldi

Setup different accounts for each user.

I can't setup accounts for every user. We were assigned only one account for four of us.

Is there any settings that I can change on the server to stop the problem? I have access to the server.

Thanks for your reply,

Aldi

Yes, you switch the server to application mode, rather than administrative. Then supply the server with valid Client Access License codes for at least 5 users. Now you can log the same user account on up to five times.

In the past, I've had 50+ people all logged in using a single username without trouble.

Hi Shack, the server is in application mode and it has 5 CALs.

Did you try ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS - TERMINAL SERVICES CONFIGURATION - SERVER SETTINGS - RESTRICT EACH USER TO ONE SESSION. Set that to NO and you should be able to have multiple sessions under the same username.

This was a new feature in 2k3 if i remember correctly. in 2k a hundred users could login with the same credentials and each have their own session no way to stop it. with 2k3 an option was added to restrict each user to one session. if used as intended its a pretty neat feature, you can walk from pc to pc and log on to the TS and pick up your session right where you left off. anyway, if you open the Terminal Services Configuration snapin, under Server Configuration, you can change Restrict Each User to One Session to No and that should do what you want.

pgaliardo, thank you very much!

RESTRICT EACH USER TO ONE SESSION is set to NO now, and is doing the job.

Thank you Roadki11 for your input!
