Hello,

I have recently re-installed windows98 and my dispaly adapter only gives me 16 colors. I know i need to get the proper driver but I cant find the name of my adapter. Is there any way of finding it without taknig my comp apart ?

Thanks,
Mike

It is the first thing shown on screen when you start up the computer - if your monitor is slow to warm up you may need to press the reset button a few times so that you see the message at the top of the screen. :)

If you missed this on startup you can do the following.
Right click on the Desktop screen>Select Properties from the drop down list>Select the Settings Tab>Click on Display Type....Then you'll see all there is to know about your Display Adapter.
Have fun

It will only show you all the info you need there if you have already installed the correct driver. Since you have not, you can find it at the beginning of the boot process as was mentioned earlier. If not, you can play around with some different generic display adapters. Just be careful, having the wrong refresh rates on you monitor is one of the only ways you can physically harm your computer (your monitor will smoke).
