I need to restore data from an old dlt tape which has no barcode on it in a standalone drive. The tape was from Netbackup 5.1Mp3 in our Development environment which nolonger exist. I have a new development environment which is based on Netbackup 6.0Mp6. How can I find out what the media id is? so that I can do a phase one import. Thanks

WHen you put the tape into the server, does it mount properly? If so, you can probably find the media ID inside the Device Monitor. Looking at the drive itself should tell you what media ID is mounted into the device (drive). I don't have the console in front of me so I don't know the exact name of the window to look at, but it's in the Devie Monitor, then look at the list of drives and someplace in that window should be a column for Media ID. If the tape is properly mounted, the ID should show there. Hope this helps, or at least gets you started.

mount the tape, then run od -c (I think), will read the header and display it on screen. This will contain the name.
