How can I change StringMatchFilter's AcceptOnMatch programmtically?

I create several StringMatchFilter in log4j. The application I am developing requirs that the switch can be changed programmtially.

When I call appender.getFilter(), nothing was retuned. Can anyboday tell where the problem is?
