i'am using a kodak digital science dc50 model camera , and i have to capture an image form it, and display it on my application, this app. is for id cards, and ido not have any idea how to do it. pls. advise.
GSERNA,
With Kodak, there are "2 ways" to retireve your image from the camera, which are dependent upon how your camera is set up. They are, a propretary Kodac format, and JPEG. Make sure you have JPEG as your selected format for image capture on the camera. Then, once you have transfered the image to your PC, assuming you are in VFP 6 or higher, you can use JPG format images in either general or memo fields.
thanks for your replay scott, it will help me a lot too.
but what i need is how can i capture the image while i am running the application.
i think that the procedure to make the id cards is as follows:
1.- a person enters to special are where the camera and the application are installed
2.- this person gives the worker number to the person that operates the application.
3.- this person types th information into the app. ant retrive general info about the worker, while the other stands infront of teh camera, at this time is possible that i can previwe the image ( for get focus, or frame the person ) and the click a botton and with thi action take the picture ????
p.d.
sorry for my spelling i writing from mexico and my inglish si not so good
there are several activex ocxs that will perform live capture. I have had good success with VideoCapX. You can find it either at CNET shareward, or on ZDnet.

gserna,
I was also looking for something that would allow me to capture images directly into my vfp program. I was making security badges for my county government and found that many camera manufactures offer sdk's(software development kit) for their cameras. Kodak is one them. Check out this link for the list of cameras they support.
I believe the sdk you would want is the one named eos dcs5, but look around to which one will work for sure. Also the camera you are using is discontinued, so you might think about upgrading to a newer one that has better quality and a better asortment of options for developers. Other cameras that have sdks are cannon, olympus, hp, and even some popluar webcam companies. Just spend a day looking up info on the net and you'll be sure to find the perfect package for you
This function is built into Windows in the Kodak imaging package. Explore the active X control Imaging.ScanCtrl.1 ... it'll interface to any camera (or flatbed) that supports Twain (and most cameras that come with applications to use them as video cameras on a computer do).
