In general you typically have your label or report utilize barcode fonts which are already installed on your Windows workstation.
There are other ways and other application snippets posted on the web and some listed in this forum as replies to other people's questions.
As long as your Intermec barcode printer is not so unique as to require specialized control strings, etc. and it will print what is sent to it (similar to most printers) you should be fine.
There are a lot of places to find barcode fonts. Again you might find some on the web.
With a variety of other printers I have used Wasp's Fontware
Generally you send the control charactes followed by the data to the intermec printer as a stream of text. ie. no change from the existing DOS setup.
The Intermec manuals will give all details.
Because of the speed of modern processors, you might have to slow down things a bit. Otherwise, serial protocol will back up onto the computer and create too many text files leading to "too many files open" system (not foxpro) messages. If you "ignore" them you will loose data and in bulk printing environment may not be able to maintain control.
So generally:
Limit the number of auto generated fields or other generated info.
Resend often from the computer.
I think there is also a "code" that allows you to check whether the existing print command is done.
