We currently have a shortage of desks and to offset the overload, our supervisors are now sharing desks. We have a S8700, Version 2 and we use 6408/6416 style phones as call centre phones (definitely not ideal, but I am not management and have no decision making power!).

How can i have two extensions on one phone, and have both extensions ring, without tying up a digital port and without having that second extension exist elsewhere as we are soo full, that people are practically sharing desks at the same time!

Make the second extension a X port extension and add the number as a bridged appearance on the phone set.

I tried this but it didn't work. When you do that, the extension doesn't ring on the first phone because there isn't a port associated with the second extension. The call would always go to voicemail.

Are two people at the desk at the same time? If not try using PSA. PSA is like TTI but for the users. The user dials the psa merge code then extension then security code Beep Beep Beep. Done. When they go home or leave they dial the separate code then extension Beep Beep Beep.

Hope this helps

I am able to set up two DID extension on a single 6416 phone, using the second extension as an x-port station as stug describes. Make sure that your coverage path on the x-port station does not go immediatly to voicemail. In addition, make sure that the bridged-appearance settings are set to ring.
Code:
BUTTON ASSIGNMENTS
 1: call-appr Auto-A/D? n Rg:r
 2: call-appr Auto-A/D? n Rg:r
 3: brdg-appr Btn:1 Ext:2900 Rg:r
 4: brdg-appr Btn:2 Ext:2900 Rg:r

Also make sure that you setup on page two of the station form,
Bridged call alerting set to Y and a good idea also to have Active Station ringing set to Continous

Has anyone using PSA had many cons with the feature? It almost seems too good to be true and I am just wondering what the experience has been with others using this feature.
