hosts

[Roaders]

I have edited my hosts file to include new names that my apache server is running but it seems to have no effect. I can ping localhost but none of the other names in the list. I have re-started my machine but it still doesn't work. When I try to visit one of the names in my web browser I get

"the page cannot be displayed"

Any ideas?

See if this helps you. It sounds like you are redirecting the web addresses to "localhost" rather than a IP number web address

I had already found that website about the hosts file and had done extensive searches on Google. In the end I reverted to a backup and continued re-installing from there.
