hi
i want to set up ourseft public dns server that allow create MX record and Alias for ourself. do any one know how to do that with window 2000 server?

thanks in advance

nhat is this 2000 server the same server that you will be using for your internal DNS?

you need two machines with public IP's and two nic's on each machine, if you want internal and external DNS.

also you will need to register the name servers, this is done the same place you got your domain name.

There are other config things on the network card that have to be complete to make everything work.

D1,
There are too many unknowns to come to that conclusion.
Nhat,
If you want to set up a public dns server, then it really should be seperate from your internal dns server(it's possible to combine them but it is not a good idea). Regardless I would need to know more about your network setup before I could know what to tell you.

seperate DNS for internal and public networks is the only way to go.

We moved all our domains to register.com and we can manage the DNS from their website.

Keep it simple stupid.
