I have a sharepoint server setup with multiple subsites. We created a DNS entry in Active Directory called "intranet" that points to the IP of the sharepoint server.

I would like to be able to use Host Headers to forward the "intranet" DNS entry to a sharepoint subsite. How do I create a host header to point to the sharepoint subsite? I found documentation for creating a host header, but my problem is when I try to setup the host header I can't select my sharepoint subsite because they aren't listed individually within IIS 6.0.

Subsite will not accept host headers, since the header they use is based on the site they are apart of.
However one thing you can do is in IIS create a new site.
Give it the header name you are trying to use. Open Sharepoint admin and extend a Virtual server to that site. What sharepoint will do then is make that site a new top level sharepoint site. Downside you will have to recreate all settings and permissions.

What settings will have to be recreated?

Document libraries
Views
Essentially then entire sub site.
Share point doesn't have the best in transferring pages.
