does anyone know where this file is located and it's name???

As nobody, yet, volonteer to guess your mind, I might give a trial. Maybe you are looking for "hosts" (no extension), located in %windir% (c:\windows) usually.

MS installation provides a sample file for it called hosts.sam located at the same folder. It is the place where to edit ip address & alias.

Once you install TCP/IP Protocol it (hosts-no extension) is placed in the C:\Windows folder. Hope this helps James Collins

The .sam was just a sample file. When you changed it to .txt it worked fine? Thats cool. Enjoy James Collins
