Does anyone know how to determine if a set it programmed for COMMON or ROOM? If so how is a set changed from one to another?

From the Hospitality manual:

Norstar telephones are one of either two types of sets: a common set or a room set. A common set does
not have access to the all of HS features. The common set is a telephone found in a lobby, office, or
common area. Common sets are Norstar telephones or analog telephones connected to an analog terminal
adapter (ATA), or an analog station module (ASM),. You can assign room numbers to a room set in
System programming. Up to five sets can be programmed as a room set within the same room (all five
sets have the same room number). The assignment of room numbers to a collection of one or more sets
provides a single appearance for multiple sets on a system. A room set can be any Norstar telephone or an
analog telephone connected to an ATA or an ASM.

Hospitality Features:

Feature Code Summary:
F875 (program Alarm from Room Set)
F877 (program Alarm from Front Desk)

F879 (program RO from Front Desk)

F876 (program RC from Room Set)
F878 (program RC from Front Desk)

Must program the set as a Room Set to enable Hospitality Features. You assign the set to a room in System Programming\Hospitality\Room-desk info

Common Sets can not use Hospitality Features

Room Set
Up to 5 Room Sets per room(Norstar sets or ATA/ASM sets). These have different DNs, but the same Room Number. You can use Answer DNs so all sets ring, when you call the room. Room Numbers can be from 0 – 32767.

Common Set
Any set that is not assigned to a Room. Office or lobby sets.

Room Occupancy (RO)
Allows front desk to assign dialing restrictions to room sets
Filters are assigned to each Room State. Filter 00(no restrictions) is the default filter assigned to each state. Depending on the customer’s dialing plan this filter can be changed to reflect the following:

4 Room States
Vacant Room is empty. Sets can make intercom or emergency calls.
Basic Room is occupied. Sets can make intercom or emergency calls.
Mid Room is occupied. Sets can make local calls.
Full Room is occupied. Sets can make local or long distance calls.

Room Condition (RC)
The room condition can be either Service done(SvcDone) or Service required (SvcReqd)
The system changes the RC on a daily basis at a set time. This is programmable in System Programming\Hospitality\Service time. The system automatically sets the RC to SvcReqd when the RO is changed to Vacant.

Cond pswd = none (none or 4-6 digits)

6 months until ski season starts...sadly i must resign myself to the warmer weather"this will include a normal 8-5 work day, 5 days a week"

Ok, so if the ALARM feature is not working then I need to first check to see if a room number has been assigned to that DN. Can the room number be the same as the DN or must it be different or a larger number lets say 4 or five digits?

Ok I just tried to change a COMMON set to a ROOM set in HOSP mode and it said NOT A ROOM SET.

This is ext and room 8301. How would I change the set from COMMON COS to ROOM COS this is were I am confused?

I can stop by the customers site again tonight. Do you have any suggestions on ho to change the set from COMMON to ROOM or visa versa?

Thanks
