Is there any way to show a group going across the page? I don't want to use a cross tab. I am using crystal 8.5

Please clarify. Do you mean showing data in multiple columns? If so, just right click the detail section. Format Section,
Format with Multiple Columns

A new Layout tab then appears that allows you to specify layout options.

I want to take my group and go acrossed instead of down.
Example
I am grouping on field= animals.
CATS DOGS RABBIT

If you can't return just one record per animal (in which case, no grouping is necessary) and use the approach I suggested above, you can create a string variable and concatenate the values in a group footer formula.

Hi Cguyreports,

I'm having a similar problem where I would like my group 3 to appear across the page. Did you ever find a solution to this? I've tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to work.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Sange

Please see thread149-839255 for a solution to this problem.

I tried this but it did not work for my specific needs. It is a great thing.

Not sure whether you were referring to my suggestion or not, but my suggestion was directed to Sange, who wanted to do columns just for one group.

You didn't provide much detail about your problem, but you should be able to use the section expert. Go to format->section->details->check format with multiple columns->layout tab and enter the width of the details and the gap->check "Across, then Down"->check "Format groups with multiple columns". You might have to play with the width of the field and the gap in order to make this work.

If you want further help, you should provide specifics about what you have tried, the results to got, and the results you want.

It was to Sange. I would have responded but my time did not allow that. Your suggestion works well but for what the business called for it was not helping me.
